Kelly crisp

I’m a writer, journalist, performing artist, and adjunct professor living in Brooklyn, New York.

I write literary fiction and nonfiction, as well as investigative journalism. My work is often about women, trauma, and complicated human stories that begin with an irremediable condition—some fascinating complexity forcing unbelievable decisions. Either in fiction or in my journalism, I’m drawn into the wild suspense of being human.

For my collaborations, I adore working with singular creatives and larger organizations alike, identifying and revealing the conceptual, and refining the message to realize an unforgettable story. I’m so proud of the success I’ve had in this consultancy work, exhibited by the enormous success of my clients.

In 2003, I founded The Rosebuds, my touring rock band. We recorded and released seven albums (available on all music platforms), and performed over a thousand shows on stages all over the world. My innovations forced an overdue evolution in the larger music industry, and channeled untapped streams of revenue directly to independent artists and their teams. I’m accustomed to working with truly brilliant creatives, musicians, and artists at the absolute top of their careers.

And, despite what I’ve publicly said to the contrary, I am absolutely writing a book about being a woman in a touring rock band. And I can’t wait to share it.
